Featured Film: Get Out

Knowing this is a horror film, I have less expectations about it but holy molly it did shook  the nerve out of me. It’s horror in the most realistic way. The kind that makes you shit in your pants and you can’t move because you’re frozen out of fear. It’s creepy and satisfyingly gruesome at the same time. It’s a different take on racial discrimination.

Get Out’s story line revolves around a black guy meeting his white girl’s family.  And what happened there is for you to find out.

Song of the Day: Zedd feat Foxes – Clarity

Cant say much about Zedd  since i don’t really dig EDM but there’s a handful I can stomach and currently, Clarity has been playing in my head for a couple of days now after a friend posted this song on his facebook account. Zedd is like David Guetta in the sense of mixing pop and electronic but what makes him different from the other EDM artists is that he creates quality lyrics into his songs. Not just creating a beat and then that’s it. I guess that’s the reason why I like this song.

Here’s the acoustic version of the song which I love listening to over and over:

High dive into frozen waves where the past comes back to life
Fight fear for the selfish pain, it was worth it every time
Hold still right before we crash ’cause we both know how this ends
A clock ticks ’til it breaks your glass and I drown in you again

‘Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn’t need
Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don’t know why

If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love’s insanity, why are you my clarity?

Walk on through a red parade and refuse to make amends
It cuts deep through our ground and makes us forget all common sense
Don’t speak as I try to leave ’cause we both know what we’ll choose
If you pull then I’ll push too deep and I’ll fall right back to you

‘Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn’t need
Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don’t know why

If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love’s insanity, why are you my clarity?

Featured Film: Whiplash

Honestly??? I’d rather have this or Boyhood over Birdman as the Best Motion Picture for this year’s Oscars. I know the actors did great with Birdman but Boyhood or Whiplash to me can be considered a classic material. Something you’d watch 10 or 20 years after and still is as relate-able and impacts emotionally as it is today. And I have to mention J.K Simmons in this movie did fuckng great! Anyway, Whiplash is a story of an aspiring jazz drummer who wants to be the best and get a good impression from his music teacher. Recommendable to all music lovers (or even not) out there.

Song of the Day: Kodaline – High Hopes

One of today’s emerging band, Kodaline is serenading my soul with their music. A friend of mine who also dig indie music introduced me first to the band with their single, Talk and fell in love with it immediately. From then on, I couldn’t stop listening to their music. Hailing from the Irish land, Kodaline is like the new Coldplay of this generation. They create songs that makes you wanna cry yet comforts you at the same time. I mean, just look at these phrases in their song High Hopes:

“And in my dreams, I meet the ghosts of all the people who have come and gone
Memories, they seem to show up so quick but they leave you far too soon”

“But I’ve got high hopes, it takes me back to when we started, when you let it go, go out and start again ,when it all comes to an end. But the world keeps spinning around”

High Hopes, is In A Perfect World’s fourth track and is just one of their songs that inexplicably hit you hard for some reason whenever you listen to it. According to the band’s vocalist, Stephen Garrigan, High Hopes was very personal to him because he wrote the song at a very rough time of his life but was trying to stay positive in the midst of.

Without any further ado, here’s Kodaline with High Hopes and oh, did i mention that aside from their songs, they have the best music videos too?
